ASC of NSW Next Generation General Committee Meeting in Mudgee, November 2019

Meetings

Our AGM is held each March/April to coincide with collaborative Youth Events at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Be sure to be following us on social media to receive the latest information.

We hold three General Meetings per year out and about in NSW face-to-face with our members. We aim to work in with existing events to maximise our travel and networking.

Our monthly Executive Meetings are held via web and teleconferencing services so that members from right across the state can join in. To join our Executive or General Committees, meet the team, or find out when our next meeting is visit our committee page or get in touch with our Secretary at info@ascnextgen.com.au

ShowSkills Workshop

Our ShowSkills workshop is a seminar designed to upskill young people involved in the NSW Agricultural Show Movement. ShowSkills is ran outside those years when the ASC of NSW ran their Country Shows Seminar in Penrith. ShowSkills has been ran in Tamworth, and also in Wagga Wagga in conjunction with the ShowAll Rural Ball in 2020.

The 2020 workshop ran across the weekend to equip young people with skills to return and implement at their local shows. The weekend aimed to provide a fun networking opportunity for youth in the area, to meet like-minded people, and to share experiences. Topics were driven by our members and included social media, communication and marketing, governance, volunteer fatigue, grant applications, youth engagement, diversifying your show, online ticketing, and more!

ShowAll Rural Ball

As the major fundraiser for our Scholarship Fund, the ShowAll Rural Ball has been our premier fundraising event for 15 years in Wagga Wagga.

The ball is heralded as the night of nights for the young agricultural professional and next generation involved in NSW Agricultural Shows. The evening includes a three-course meal, live and silent auction items, raffle, live band, networking and dancing, and lots of great discussion with like minded people.

Attendance at Ag Show Conferences

The ASC of NSW Next Generation supports members to attend agricultural shows conferences across NSW, Australia and even internationally. From travel scholarships to assist in getting to our own ShowSkills workshops, to scholarships to attend the triennial ASC of NSW Conference in Penrith, the Agricultural Shows Australia Conference, and the biennial Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth (RASC) Conference. Be on the lookout across our socials for opportunities and events, as we often share those from our partners that may interest you too!

AgriYouth Connect at Sydney Royal

In collaboration with the RAS of NSW Youth Group and NSW Young Farmers, we host AgriYouth Connect at the Sydney Royal Easter Show before our AGM.

Established in 2019, AgriYouth Connect aims to bring together like-minded young people involved in agriculture and shows from right across NSW for a free networking lunch overlooking the main arena of the show. The event included a short presentation on the three organisations and membership options, and staged networking with discussion topics relevant to the audience. These guided discussions sessions allowed the ASC of NSW Next Generation to further develop events throughout the year like our ShowSkills workshop.

Supporting The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition

The Land Sydney Royal Easter Showgirl Competition occurs right across NSW, and for many it is their first introduction to the ASC of NSW Next Generation at a Zone Final. We'll be along to provide a short presentation at each Zone Final held in February and March.

The seven Zone Finals is the next stage for local Showgirls representing their local show society and community. The Zone Final consists of an interview during the day with a panel of three judges, a judging lunch with all other Zone Finalists, and a evening presentation at which an on-stage interview will be conducted. At the conclusion of the evening State Finalists will be selected to represent that Zone at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

For more information on the competition, Zone Final dates and details visit the ASC of NSW website here.
